I'm working on a new wall hanging from some very old fabric that a friend gave me. My friend, Jody, was cleaning out a house that her husband inherited from his grandmother. She had passed away and Jody's family had planned on moving into the house. She brought me this small box of fabric and pieced blocks wondering if there was anything I could use.
Last week I finally took the time to look through the box and found a treasure trove! The box held a multitude of handpieced Dresden Plates (12 in all) that will make a wonderful twin or full size bed quilt made in fabric from the late 70s/early 80s. It also held several 4-blocks, a couple of Sunbonnet Sues and quite a few butterflies already cut out and ready for appliqueing onto fabric. To begin with, I decided to put 4 of the 4-blocks together and to applique the Sunbonnet Sues, and maybe a butterfly or two, onto the 4-blocks. I think it will be a really cute wall hanging. I'll be sure to take pictures as I go along.
